Luxury hotel, The Terrace Hotel in Perth, is celebrating its opening by hosting a Social Media Sleepover, where key social media influencers will be invited to spend the night and document their experiences online.

Perth's Terrace Hotel to host Social Media Sleepover

The Sleepover will take place on 24 November at the hotel, located at the top end of St Georges Terrace, with invited guests encouraged to use the hashtag #SocMedSleepover when Tweeting, Facebooking or Instagraming their experiences and feedback.

“This is the first time a luxury hotel in Australia has used social media as part of its launch strategy. Social media is a core part of our vision, and we can’t wait to share The Terrace Hotel with everyone,"  marketing and events manager, Meg Coffey said.

Hosting another opening party earlier this month and officially opening to the public this week, the site of The Terrace Hotel has a long history, and Coffey said the hotel is a good mix of old and new.

"Set amongst modern buildings, the heritage-listed St George’s House has been rebuilt with immense care and attention to detail and is sure to please the seasoned business traveller, discerning tourist or sophisticated city patron.

"Built in 1892 the building has led many lives before its most recent transformation into a luxury hotel, bar and restaurant with private dining and function facilities. The hotel pays homage to its history, yet incorporates all the modern luxuries and indulgences imaginable including in-room iPads, Bang and Olufsen sound and television systems, Apple TV and Foxtel IQ fully integrated for the guests’ enjoyment," she said.

Only 15 rooms are available for the Social Media Sleepover, so choosing the right guests to invite was a difficult process, Coffey said.

Invited guests include John Cooke who uses the Twitter handle @freocookster and has more 3,000 followers. He describes himself as a social media strategist and a blogger. Adam Barrell is the founder of @tweetperth which provides Perth-based news to its audience of more than 25,000 followers.

The Social Media Sleepover guests will be the first to stay in the hotel and will be strongly encouraged to utilise all social media channels to document their experiences, which will include  a specially-designed menu from executive chef Shannon Wilson, accompanied by Forest Hill Wines.
